Lets have a baby in 2008...

Hey Ladies, I need a bit of advice here. Can you please give me some suggestions of what has worked for you as in regards to making you go into labor? What really works? Castor oil, walking, sex?? It's an open floor, give it to me.....

They come when they want to...but that being said, with #4 I was getting anxious to be done, so I put #3 in a stroller and walked about 1 or 2 miles. It was Nov. so I think the cold made me walk a little faster. Less than 12 hours later I was holding my new little one. Good Luck

P.S. I just saw on your widget that you're still 32 days away!! Maybe try the walking in a few weeks.

Nothing. Nothing works. Pitocin hardly even works for me until my water breaks. I didn't end up trying the idea you gave me, though...

You've got a ways to go, dear! I know the last month is so hard. Maybe try getting dehydrated with the worst stomach flu you've ever had? That's what put me into labor a month early with Tyler. :) I don't recommend it though!

Moving furniture! But not this early honey. Hang in there!

I don't have the experience of having a baby, but I have worked in maternity as a nurse now. I know that castor oil will make you have severe diarrhea during labor, so I advise against that. I would suggest doing repetitions of squatting. That helps things go a whole lot faster than walking will. And don't try any of this for at least 2 more weeks when you're at term!
But really, the baby will come when it's ready, it's just hard waiting. Good luck, hang in there!

As the woman with a cervix of steel, I've got nothing for you. Sorry. Anniken told me that cleaning her tub worked every time but

I think I've already disclosed to you my "tricks" but really the only one that worked is the oil. It's scary, but it's only for the most desperate women out there. Wait until you can't wait another second - remember mix with OJ.

I did everything one night (walking, jogging, sex, hot food, and sitting on the ball), and wouldn't you know it -I went into labor that night. But...I wouldn't reccomend the jogging-that was a HUGE painful mistake!

Medically speaking the only thing shown to have any benefit in the literature is sexual intercourse. However, even the evidence for that is minimal. It did show that women who have regular sex throughout their pregnancies tend to deliver earlier than women who only had sex at the end as a pseudo-induction. Also regular cervical checks by your OB will help. After you're at 37 wks you can just ask to have your membranes stripped every time you see the doctor, and that should move things along faster.
